Privacy policy, minus the legal fog.
Insurance renewal notices carry real personal details—your name, car, and home address. You deserve a clear, honest answer on what we read, what we throw away on sight, and how we handle your data under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
The 15-second version
- We strip payment card, BSB, and bank account numbers before anything touches our database.
- We only use your details to fetch the insurance quotes you asked for and email them to you.
- We never sell your phone number or email address to random spam lists or call-centre brokers.
- Email quotes@renewandsave.com.au anytime and we’ll wipe your record—no hoops.
1. What we collect (and why we actually need it)
We can’t get you real car insurance quotes without the details insurers ask on their forms. When you upload or forward your renewal PDF and tap through our 4 quick questions, we collect:
- From your renewal PDF: Your current insurer, renewal price, excess, car registration and make/model, overnight address, annual kilometres, and listed drivers’ names, birth dates, and claim/demerit summaries.
- From your 4 quick answers: Exact overnight parking (like street vs. locked garage), whether the car is financed, driver gender and licence age, and the email address (plus optional mobile) where you want your saved quotes sent.
- Basic site usage: First-party analytics (like page views and which quote button was clicked) so we know whether the site is working properly and which marketing channels actually bring people here.
2. What we throw away immediately
Australian renewal PDFs often attach a tax invoice or direct-debit schedule at the back showing credit card digits or bank account numbers. We don’t want them and don’t need them. Our document reader is instructed to strip payment card numbers, expiry dates, BSBs, and bank account numbers before storing your policy summary.
3. What happens when we fetch quotes on your behalf
Nothing leaves Renew & Save until you tick the authorisation box on Question 4. Once you do, our automated browser concierge fills out the online quote forms for the competing Australian insurers shown on screen—using your car, address, driver details, and email—so they can lock in a 30-day price for you.
Because those quotes are saved directly with each insurer so you can retrieve them in one click, each insurer handles that quote record under their own privacy policy. And you may get a standard “your quote is saved” confirmation email straight from them alongside our summary email.
4. Next year’s renewal reminder (only if you want it)
Your PDF shows when your cover renews next year. So we’ll send you a timely heads-up before your next renewal falls due to make sure you don’t get stung again. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link—click it once and you won’t hear from us again.
5. Where your data lives & trusted cloud tools
Your quote and policy summary database is stored encrypted in Sydney, Australia. To read your PDF, send your comparison email, and measure basic site performance, we use trusted enterprise cloud providers (including Google Cloud and Resend). Some of their infrastructure processes requests outside Australia under strict security protections, and none of them are allowed to use your renewal PDF to train public AI models.
6. See it, fix it, or delete it
It’s your data. Email quotes@renewandsave.com.au anytime if you want a copy of what we hold, need to correct something, or want us to permanently delete your personal renewal and quote records. We’ll sort it out promptly (and always within 30 days). We do keep anonymous pricing stats—like car model, postcode, and premium jumps, with zero names, emails, regos, or street addresses—so we can track how Australian insurers price renewals.
If you ever have a privacy concern and feel we haven’t resolved it fairly after speaking with us, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
